For someone who is a total lightweight, I really appreciate a drink with some bourbon in it. My sister-in-law made a Hot Toddy when they came to visit over New Year’s -> LOVED IT. Jim and I made some of these for the Kentucky Derby -> LOVED THEM!!! So when Jim suggested making these Bourbon Balls for our drink this week I quickly agreed.
Friday’s have really become a fun night in this house now that we have instituted Fun Friday. Despite the heat (that registered in our car this afternoon at 111,) we had a nice night sitting out on our deck enjoying some cocktails and grilling some chicken. My dear neighbor Karen Campbell sent over a baguette from Trader Joe’s earlier in the week and Jim had put what we didn’t eat quickly into the freezer. I really wanted to have some garlic bread, but I just didn’t feel like turning on the oven. So in times like this I think – how do I grill this?????” So here is what I did….. We toasted some garlic bread on the grill. I then rubbed some garlic cloves all over the bread and then spread some butter on each side. I then wrapped it in foil and let it warm and melt while the rest of dinner was cooking. The results were wonderful – if I do say so myself.
The drink kind of reminded me of a White Russian because its creamy and kind of chocolately. Definitely a dessert drink and we just had a small serving of this before dinner. This was a nice change from all the summery drinks we have had lately. This was great with some chocolate shaved over top – yum!
So I hope you had an easy week and a really fun and relaxing Friday night! Take some time this weekend to relax and spend time with your family. Most importantly make these two things this weekend and Enjoy!
Grilled Garlic Bread
Loaf of bread of your choice – sliced down the middle
1-2 garlic cloves cut in half
Slice bread in half and heat over grill until a nice toasty crust forms. Rub Garlic all over bread. You will start to smell the garlic and let it really get into the nooks and crannies. Spread butter all over bread and then put the loaf back together and wrap in aluminum foil. Set on the top grate of your grill and let heat through until all the butter has melted. Slice into this pieces and sprinkle with kosher salt.
Note: You can adjust the Bourbon and Frangelico to your taste.
2 oz Bourbon
2 oz White Creme De Cacao
1 oz Frangelico
Mix first three ingredients in a shaker with ice cubes until well combined. Pour into chilled glasses until about 2/3 full and top with heavy cream and chocolate shavings. Enjoy!!
