Cherry Berry Banana Smoothie

Cherry Berry Banana Smoothie

For Christmas Jim and the girls bought me an awesome immersion blender and we are all loving it.  I think we have used it every day making one thing or another.  If you are on the market for an immersion blender the Breville brand is a great one.  The motor is very powerful and the whisk works well, too.  When we were in Maryland over the holidays I used it to whisk some egg whites for egg nog and I think it did better than my stand mixer whisk.  I have also used it to make mashed potatoes and some pureed soups with much success.  Plus, it is super fun to use!

My girls loved this smoothie and the addition of the cherries gives this a nice change from the traditional berry banana smoothie that we make.  Ella will drink almost any smoothie I put in front of her but Taylor is a bit more picky.  She gave this one a big thumbs up.  I think the immersion blender did  a better job chopping up the berries than my blender used to which I am sure made the difference for her.

I used a frozen fruit blend that Trader Joe’s has that includes Berries and Cherries.  If you can’t find this just mix some frozen berries and frozen cherries to equal one cup.

I like to add the coconut water for some nutritional punch and the Greek yogurt adds some protein in the morning.  If you don’t have coconut water just sub any other type of milk.  I use unsweetened yogurt and add my own sugar so I can control the amount.

Cherry Berry Banana Smoothie
  • 1 Cup Frozen Cherry and Berry Mix (Trader Joe's has this)
  • 1 banana
  • ½ cup light greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • ½ cup coconut water or skim milk
  1. Add all ingredients to your blender and mix until thoroughly combined. Add more coconut water or milk to get to your desired consistency.
  2. Enjoy!
